The British developer, NextBeat, confirmed that the hot music games Beatstar and County Star will officially be closed on 31 October 2025. NextBeat, in his blog announcement, said that “to make hard decisions in a heavy mood” and that the game would never be accessible once the server was shut down.

Earlier this month, Duolingo announced the acquisition of NextBeat, a London game studio, as the developer of the popular music game Beatstar, and the NextBeat team will lead the development of a multi-neighbourhood music learning course. At the same time, 23 current staff in NextBeat will join a number of neighbouring countries.

Currently, only six employees are in operation in Beatstar and Country Star. The former CEO, Simon Hyde, stated: “Multi-neighborships have not acquired NextBeat or play under the flag, the two entities are fully independent, and many neighbouring countries do not have any game assets or distribution rights. This is a team acquisition, not an asset acquisition.” He also revealed that, following transactions in a number of neighbouring countries, NextBeat ‘ s financing scheme and the expansion of the game product line had been frozen.

“The creation of these wonderful games has been an honor for the past four years, and it has been a great honor to witness the growth of our communities.” The announcement says. The developers have committed to providing a refund service to the full value users for almost 30 days, and all season activities will be operational until 31 October. The FAQ board made it clear that the game would not continue through private servers and would not be sold to other companies.

The fact that there are currently only four staff members left in NextBeat to deal with the pre-discontinuation period marks the end of the two previously infested audio tours.
