Jam City’s role-playing tour of Harry Potter: The Hogwarts is now approaching the eighth anniversary of its eighth anniversary, with more than 160 million global lifetime downloads. Jam City states that since it went online in 2018, the total length of time played by players in the game has increased by more than 10.7 billion minutes, up from 97 billion minutes on the seventh anniversary.

According to the studio, more than 14 per cent of the players have completed their studies in Hogwarts and entered the game graduation line “over Hogwarts”. In commemoration of the eighth anniversary, Jam City launched a series of in-playing events from 1 April, including an award for the anniversary theme for each Hogwarts College. The celebrations will last throughout the month and will include new drama-driven adventures, time-bound challenges and seasonal activities associated with nodes such as Earth Day.

The current update cycle also included the release of volume 3, Beyond Hogwarts, on 15 April, which continued the evolving drama of the game, with players moving from student life to a wider world of magicians. Jam City states: “Eight years of Harry Potter Hogwarts, meaning eight years of friendship, mystery, magic and unforgettable adventure. Whether the player has been with us since the first day of school, or has recently joined this journey, the player is part of the story and the adventure is far from over. From the anniversary celebration, the full-hearted mission, to the new chapter of “Behind Hogwarts”, there are more waiting for you outside the castle gates.”
